The Fund invests in a non-corelated diversified portfolio of investment-grade commercial PACE financings.

The Fund has an option to convert to a leveraged investment through securitization and retention of excess spread class.

Leveraged Investment Option

The Fund Option seeks to execute a securitization from time-to-time in which the Fund retains the high yield Residual Class (Excess Spread).  This option is available to both the Taxable and Tax-Exempt Funds.

The Fund Option is collateralized by non-corelated diversified portfolio of investment-grade commercial PACE financings.

Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE)

The funds will be investing exclusively in Commercial Property Assessed Clean Energy (C-PACE) financing throughout the United States.  

What are C-PACE financings?  This type of financings facilitates municipalities and private investors such as Samas Funding Funds to offer commercial property owners financing for qualifying energy improvements with repayment through an assessment that is collected via their property tax bill.  

As an investment this collateral has several benefits:

  •      Financing is para passu with property taxes and thus senior to              other financings (including mortgage)
  •     Attached to the property and not the property owner and as               such is automatically transferred to new property owners.
  •     Financing is not accelerated during a possible workout event.             This limits exposure to losses with potential interest shortfalls                being the most likely exposure.
  •     Stable cashflows with very low prepayment incentives

Mark Allan Aarvig - Managing Director - Chief Investment Officer

He has over 30 years’ experience on the buy, sell, and consulting sides of the Residential Mortgage Back Securities (RMBS) market working for top tier institutions Deutsche Bank, Impac Companies, Aames Financial, California Federal Bank, and Recon Research as a Senior Economist. More recently, he was the Chief Investment Officer for ABS Investment Group responsible for managing portfolios of RMBS bonds. He has earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics and a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations, and a Minor in Japanese from the University of Minnesota. 

Todd Traskos - Managing Partner -  Chief Business Development Officer

A 20-year veteran of product development, sales and marketing for the financial services sector, he was previously a Managing Director of Institutional Sales for Mesirow Financial and for Incapital. His deep experience tailoring investments for  institutional clients spans Agency and non-Agency MBS, MBS derivatives, credits, and ABS, as well as structuring and distribution of equity-linked notes and other structured products. He has earned a bachelor’s degree in economics at Clemson University and holds FINRA Series 7 and 63 licenses.  

Chris J. Donnelly, J.D. LL.M. - Managing Partner - Chief Legal Officer

Active Member of the Bar in California, Florida, New Jersey and New York. He has over 25 years of  experience in the financial markets as an attorney, rating agency analyst at Moody’s Investors Service and Duff & Phelps, bond trading analyst at Mesirow Financial, and has been a regular publisher of research on matters related to complex financial transactions for many years. Mr. Donnelly has FINRA Series 7 and Series 63 licenses, and is a FINRA Certified Arbitrator. He has a Bachelor of Arts from Rutgers University, Juris Doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania and a Master of Laws in Taxation from New York University.

Dan I. Castro, Jr. MBA - Chairman Investment Committee

Dan has been involved in the Fixed Income and Structure Finance Markets for over 30 years. His experience includes mortgage origination, underwriting, and servicing, mortgage banking, and broad knowledge of ABS, RMBS, CMBS, CDOs, Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs), and other Structured Finance products.  Dan has a particularly broad perspective on the market and has worked as a Strategist, Quantitative Analyst, Banker, Rating Agency Analyst, Research Analyst, Collateral Manager, Fund Manager, Chief Investment Officer, Chief Credit Officer, Chief Risk Officer, Salesman, and Investor. During the time Dan ran Merrill Lynch’s Structured Finance Research Group (1991-2004), he was voted to the Institutional Investor All-America Fixed Income Research Team for 13 consecutive years, and recognized for his expertise in ABS, RMBS, CDOs, and mortgage prepayments. He was the top-ranked analyst for ABS Strategy in the industry multiple times according to the Institutional Investor industry poll. He has a Bachelor of Arts  in Government from the University of Notre Dame, and MBA from Washington University.
